An Evening at Start Gallery

I went to Start Gallery to cut and color some hair. We set up right in the gallery with the art. The current exhibit is called Vessels and features work by 10 artists. The opening party the night before was a huge success! I walked around with Jason to view the all the art and took some great pictures!

View out the window of Grand River and Broadway.

The entire North wall is lined with these windows which makes for a great view.

This seems like it’s from the past!

I love these honeycombs! Most of the artists all did a honeycomb piece without previously discussing the idea.
The biggest hair pile ever. Every time!!
I love working in art galleries!

Start Gallery is on East Grand River in downtown Detroit. I love this gallery for the art and the location. Start has been open and running for a year and a half and has already featured over a hundred amazing artists! The current exhibit, Vessels, houses so many different types of art. I really enjoyed my private showing. Such fun. I took a lot of pictures but could have taken a lot more. They’ve really loaded the gallery with art!! The gallery itself and its surroundings are even art. Vessels runs for about 2 more weeks.

Start Gallery and Grateful Dreads have formed an event called H’art. It’s hair and art together. I’ll be in the gallery giving haircuts the second Sunday of every month from 4pm until 8pm. There will be beer and wine served, and the gallery will be open for viewing. What a classy and cool event! I would love to see you there!
