Looking Good at Grateful Dreads!
It’s been an exceptional week full of great-looking clients and enjoyable company. These are some pics of the all-stars of Grateful Dreads!
Thank you to all of the new people who’ve come through for specialty work! And thank you so much to those of you who return. Good times at the shop!
Scott’s New Dreads!
Scott came to Grateful Dreads for a consultation about a month ago. He wanted dreads and had been growing his hair out for three years to get them! He wasn’t sure how it would go because people told him that his straight hair wouldn’t go into dreads. During our consultation I assured him his hair could, in fact, be dreaded! This past Saturday he came walking down the driveway for his appointment, and we got to work!
Thanks to both of you! I am so happy to be a part of this accomplishment, and I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with you!
Happy Spring!
Hunter!!
Hunter came to Grateful Dreads on one of the first beautiful spring days this season. We had a good time putting in her dreadlocks. Her hair was really perfect for them! We were even able to blunt her ends which is very rare in the beginning. Hunter’s dreads took me about 4 hours to put in. No wax. No rubberbands. Just her natural hair!
Hunter really is the complete vision. Special thank you to Hunter and her peeps for the kind and happy company. Happy Spring everyone!!
4-20 Dreads All Day!
Brigid, Hanna, and I started the day with Brigid’s dreads session. It took around four hours, and her hair created beautiful new dreads!!
Heather came later that afternoon, and we started her dreadlocks! Very different hair and locks than earlier in the day. Heather is an amazing yoga instructor in the area. I’m excited to watch her hair as the locks grow and mature!!
Happy Birthday Lion!
Happy Earth Day everyone!
Alex’s Dreads After 5 Weeks
Alex came to Grateful Dreads about 5 weeks ago for new dreads. After around a month, new dreads will start to look fuzzy and like they are falling out. This is because the new dread work is tightening towards the center of each dreadlock. The tightening causes any shorter hairs to fall out at the roots and the ends to look longer. These pics are of Alex at his first tightening session about 5 weeks after we put in his dreads.
He came in for a tightening session, and I workied in all the loose hairs, tightened his roots and ends, and put on some tightening gel by Knotty Boy. Before tightening, I washed Alex’s hair with a clarifying tea tree shampoo and separated any dreads that were stuck together.
Thank you Alex!
Many New Clients! Lots of Hair Textures! Lots of Families!!
Macenzie came in looking really cute with a straightened, assymetrical cut. Very stylish but a little fuzzy at the ends. We all agreed the cut was cute, and since she wants her hair long, we would do a cute style and let her hair grow!!
I left Macenzie’s natural curl on the sides and in back then added some curls with a small curling iron to the top. Kind of a pompadour look! Annette came in wanting a different look. We decided to push her hair forward instead of back, and I cut in a cute cut with bangs while accenting her natural hair growth especially in the back. Mama and daughter, so cute!!
Anthony and Annelle are two really amazing people! They drove here from Oklahoma, and I am so glad to have met them!! Anthony is part of a youth ministry where he lives. The whole family is so stylish you wouldn’t believe it!
I rounded the tips of Anthony’s dreads. It’s the look he wanted, and his hair texture and condition were just right to do this.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Josh’s Dreads After 10 Weeks
Tight rubberbands can cause kinks in the dreads. If you use a rubberband, don’t put it too tight, and try to put your ponytail in a different spot each time.
Wow Josh’s hair gets really blonde in summer! These dreads are looking great! Josh works on them a lot, and it shows. Here’s a pic from when they were first done:
Thanks for the pics Josh! See you soon!
