I was recently so fortunate to have some of Fotoula’s newest collection in the salon. I am in the process of setting up a boutique area for clothing in the salon that will feature Fotoula Lambros Designs among other lines.
At first glance, Fotoula’s clothes do not appear to be what they actually are. What I loved most was to watch the models get to know Fotoula’s clothing. These designs are so fabulous and functional! Fotoula’s designs are unlike anything from this area. They are more like clothing I see from NYC or Europe!
I love all of these photos! There are four short sequences of photos that are all very different. All of the clothing is from Fotoula’s newest collection, and all of the hair is by me! The photos were all taken by me except the first one which was taken by my husband backstage at a Detroit fashion show. What a crazy fun time we had!! The outdoor sequence was in a small town West of Ann Arbor taken on one of the last beautiful Fall days this year. The third sequence were taken inside the salon of a good friend and long-time client immediately following her hair appointment! The indoor photos really inspired me to invest in photo lighting… The last two photos on this page were taken outside the salon in between clients. Look at this young woman’s beautiful dreadlocks and hair wraps!! I especially love how this dress of Fotoula’s has a soft flowy hood!
I’ve had the enormous pleasure of working with Ling Ling, a beautiful and friendly, extremely talented model. These are the photos from of our first session in June:
I took these photos myself using my new Nikon except for the last photo which was taken by Davide Anderson. It’s a lot of fun to have a camera again! Since I am building my photography equipment, I have really enjoyed using the natural light rather than having to buy a lot of lighting all at once. This day was June 22 around 2pm, so the light couldn’t get any better!
The beautiful jewelry you see was made by Larissa Rubel for Ling Ling. I enjoyed spending the day with Larissa because she is very very chic and fun to talk to! The pink necklace you see is made from Mother of Pearl. Larissa collects rare gems and beads and makes them into this beautiful jewelry!
Melissa Keryn did Ling Ling’s make up. Melissa has really become a star! I love working with you Melissa and look forward to our next session! You are so talented!
I designed Ling Ling’s hair in the first style to look like one of my favorite fairies. The second style was to simply show off her gorgeous hair! I was very inspired by the wide part of the river in these shots which is why I chose this location.
The Tie dye shirt was made by Fotoula Lambros including the custom dye pattern. You can find more of Fotoula’s work on her webpage fo2la.com
I hope you’ve enjoyed these photos! We had a great time making them!
These are the finished photos by Mike Frieseman. Mike, Maeve, and I got together for a quick shoot before she left town. I styled her hair, and Maeve did her own make up.
The resulting photos are exquisite!
Thank you so much Maeve and Mike for making these beautiful photos happen!

Clients are getting ready for fall with new cuts and color. There’s something about having your hair done that is so rejuvenating! These are the pics from last week’s appointments:
Mike and I had the pleasure of shooting with Maeve. She and I met at Grateful Dreads where I styled her hair then we went to Mike’s studio for a mega session!
These are some shots I took with my phone during the shoot!
This last look is my favorite of all the photos I took. Flawless.
Ramble on Maeve! We love you!!
Please look for Mike’s professional and complete collection of photos on this site in the near future!
We did a photoshoot last night at Grateful Dreads. Mike Frieseman took the photos, and Diana Mellon did some modeling. We had a lot of fun and created some really amazing shots.
These are some pics I snapped with my phone:
Fun times! We created some very artistic and fashionable looks. Thank you Diana and Mike!
Alloy Ash, Steve Ragland, and I collaborated for a photoshoot last Sunday. Steve had some very beutiful ideas, and I had this cute sweater I really wanted to shoot. Ash has a Doc Martens collection spanning from the 90’s, so we had fun with that too!
I took these pics with my phone while they worked.
This was a fun shoot! Everyone was very professional and we worked fast. I got to play with some more alternative looks than usual, and that’s always fun. Alloy Ash you are truly amazing! I could go on and on. I keep thinking about your cool pink shoes!
Fan Cam and Gabi met at Grateful Dreads for quick Kerrytown photoshoot! Fan Cam is an extremely motivated and talented model. Gabi is a talented photographer as well as a gorgeous model! I knew they would really get along, so I was so happy to host this shoot. I love getting artists together for collaborations! We all had fun and got some great photos!!
I had already cut their hair, so I left things pretty natural. I styled Cam’s a little bit, and Gabi did some very light make up.
A hip urban feel. I took these photos inside the Kerrytown building. Such a photogenic place!
Thank you Gabi, and thank you Cam! You are both so talented and fun, and you both have amazing style! I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Special thank you to the person who loaned us this great camera!
Gabi, Suki, Mai, and I met for our first photo session as a team! What a great day! Beautiful weather, luxurious clothes, and a modern, artistic setting. We all worked very hard and had much success!
Stephanie (Suki’s mom) and Gabi took some behind-the-scenes photos with Suki’s iPad:
I was so busy I only had time to snap these pics with my little camera at the very end.
I’m so excited by this shoot. We all left feeling good, and we’re all still going with this great energy. I’m happy with how my skills and confidence have grown. Creativity was flowing through all of us. We worked hard and captured everything I had imagined! Thank you so much to everyone involved in this shoot! Gabi, Suki, Stephanie, Mai, Fotoula, and to my dear friends for letting us use this location. Thank you so much!!
Mai’s high-quality photos will be ready in the near-future. These are just some snap shots for a sneak of the session!!
Maeve is royalty of models. I love working with her and her hair! She’s so gorgeous, highly educated, and speaks from her amazing experiences. So cool! We met early for the shoot and got ready so fast that we went out for breakfast while we waited for Daighna Rayner, the photographer, to arrive. The day before, Maeve came to Grateful Dreads, and I deep conditioned her hair and braided it to dry. When I took out her braid for the shoot, her hair looked beautiful just how it was! I did a little detail work to create some smoothness. Maeve did all of her make up in all of the photos.
This is a very special shoot. I put a lot of myself and my ideas into this and was able to meet with both of my favorite designers, Kelly Lynne and Fotoula Lambros, to pull from their new collections. Given the concept and the model, we were all excited!
The dress in the last picture is the Monroe dress in black by Fotoula Lambros for Fotoula Lambros Design. The dresses in the above pictures are both by Kelly Sager for Kelly Lynne. The machine in the top picture is a Linotype and is how newspapers used to be printed. Maeve looks like she is from that era in Kelly Lynne’s beautiful lacy dress! I really love the red puffy sleaves on the middle dress. So haute couture!
Maeve has amazing energy. Thank you to all of you involved in this shoot!
The photos from Grateful Dreads’ first photoshoot are here! Ashley is so gorgeous! I really love her style. We met up early that morning, so I could make her hair platinum and touch up her mohawk before the shoot (you can view the process in the next post). Then I made her hair huge and added some bright purple and deep blue to the back! Ashley did her own make up then we drove out to a beautiful spot on the river.
I love Ashley’s confidence! And I really love the one-lens sunglasses! What a special treat to work with these two amazing artists. Thank you I love you guys!!
Mai Truong, Melania Plasko, and I got together at Grateful Dreads this Tuesday afternoon for a photo shoot! Melania makes clothes and collects them, so we used her clothes and designs. You can look at Melania’s Lookbook to see more of her designs. For this shoot I did her hair and make up in the salon, then we ventured out to an older cemetery in town. I love Melania’s bangs, so I styled her hair around them in every look! We did a smooth first look and agreed to get bigger as we went. I did her makeup using lavender and metal tones. I added some huge thick eyelashes, and we made lipstick out of a mix of eyeshadows.
The first look was very smooth and sleek. I did this with rollers and clips and using an Ibiza boar’s bristle round brush.
Måeve, Daighna, and I got together on Sunday and had the first ever photo shoot at Grateful Dreads! We got very creative, worked hard, and had a lot of fun. I love that I get to spend time making art with such wonderful people and am so thankful! The pics below were all taken with my iphone. The real pics were shot by Daighna Rayner and are currently being looked through and edited by her.
Here’s a sneak of our last look. Måeve in a beautiful grassy meadow. She’s wearing the wrap dress designed by Fotoula Lambros for Fotoula Lambros Design. This dress was the closing look in FLD’s most recent Detroit fashion show but in white. She graciously loaned us the black one for this shoot.
Look at those clouds!
The rest of these photos are of the salon after the shoot. I really love my new salon! And I really loved this shoot. Everything about it.
Here are two good shots from a recent photoshoot with Paige Mobley. Marygrace D’Aleo did her make-up and brought the red dress. I styled Paige’s hair off her face and neatly to the side for the beauty shot, shown first. For the last look of the shoot we got very glamorous with a roller set, and I pinned her hair into a bob. Paige is an excellent model and really worked the look!
I am so happy to have worked with the photographer, Acacia. Watching her work was energizing, and her edited pic below is a piece of fine art. What a pleasure to work with such an amazing and talented artist!
I went to Fotoula Lambros’ fashion show this past Saturday at Exodus in Greektown. When I arrived, the buzz backstage was very positive. The models all looked great and ready to go. Laura Rose was in the middle of them all checking over their hair and doing some last minute primping. I grabbed a cocktail and found a great spot to watch the show near Laur Nash, the event’s photographer.
I was really impressed with the visuals for this show. There were three screens adjacent, one with footage of a girl swimming in a beautiful gown–she looked like she was falling on purpose! The entire patio of Exodus was painted white which really added to the New York City effect of the show. I’m excited to see the beginnings of a true fashion scene in Detroit. There were some very sharp outfits in attendance!
The fashion show begins!
I got one good shot with my iPod.
The rest of these photos were taken by Laur Nash:
F A S H I O N !!!!!!!!
Fotoula looked boss! I really love the lion pendant she’s wearing.
Laura Rose, Fotoula’s lead hair-stylist, gave her a cute little cake and a huge smile! Happy Birthday Fotoula!
Here’s a pic of me outside the show in Greektown!
You can see more of Fotoula and her fashions, Laura Rose, and Laur Nash at Workroom Detroit.
